In the late spring of May, a high-profile shipping industry event kicked off on the banks of the Haihe River and the coast of the Bohai Sea. On the morning of May 19, the opening ceremony of the 2nd China (Dongjiang) Shipping Industry Week was grandly held in Binhai New Area, Tianjin.
Guided by the China Communications and Transportation Association and the People's Government of Binhai New Area, Tianjin, and supported by the Administrative Committee of Tianjin Dongjiang Bonded Port Area, the 2nd China (Dongjiang) Shipping Industry Week is jointly planned and organized by China Shipping Gazette and Tianjin Dongjiang Investment Holding Co., Ltd. With the theme of "The 14th Five-Year Plan and the New Five Years of the Shipping Industry", the event attracted more than 350 enterprises and relevant institutions. To comply with COVID-19 prevention and control requirements, the opening ceremony and plenary session were attended by 450 representatives on site, with over 40 media outlets covering the conference.

Combined with the key goals and major tasks of China's economic and social development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, he put forward seven specific suggestions for the development of the port and shipping industry: focus on high-quality development to boost the building of a country with strong transportation network; deepen structural adjustment to integrate into the new development pattern of dual circulation; pool innovation drivers to seize new development highlands; foster new development advantages to serve regional integration; base on economic globalization to serve as a "bridgehead" for trade development; promote green development to fulfill main responsibilities; and participate in global governance to develop "Chinese standards" and "Chinese solutions".

Jia Di, Executive Deputy Head of Binhai New Area, Tianjin, delivered a welcome speech. He stated that the theme of this event is "The 14th Five-Year Plan and the New Five Years of the Shipping Industry". The year 2021 marks the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan, and it is expected that the shipping industry and maritime finance industry will play a better leading and driving role in the economy.
Tianjin Binhai New Area will continue to play its role as a pilot zone for the free trade zone, accelerate the formation of an all-round opening-up pattern, speed up the construction of the northern international shipping zone, support Tianjin Port in building a first-class and smart port, and continuously enhance the advantages of Tianjin's financial leasing industry.

He stated that Tianjin is a northern international shipping hub under vigorous planning and construction in China. As the main birthplace of maritime finance, Dongjiang has set an example for the development of high-end clustered industries. Innovation is the core driving force for industrial development. At the conference, the release ceremony for the "Top 30 Innovation Cases in the Port and Shipping Logistics Industry 2021" was also held.
According to Chen Hongbing, Editor-in-Chief of China Shipping Gazette, to encourage innovative thinking in the port and shipping logistics industry and promote industry innovation achievements, China Shipping Gazette launched the collection campaign for "Top 30 Innovation Cases in the Port and Shipping Logistics Industry" on March 22 this year. Through various channels, a large number of innovation cases and projects covering all aspects of the industry were collected.
After review and screening by the evaluation committee, public announcement and online voting, as well as selection, analysis and scoring of 41 shortlisted projects by the expert evaluation committee, the scores were calculated with a 7:3 weighting ratio of innovation capability and influence. The top 30 projects with the highest total scores were finally awarded the honor of "Top 30 Innovation Cases in the Port and Shipping Logistics Industry 2021".
